Building Information Modeling (BIM)

Since the advent of computer-based design tools, M.E. GROUP / design has continuously strived to be at the forefront of emerging technology to assist in design.

In 2006, M.E. GROUP
/ design made significant advancements by utilizing BIM for Palmer Ridge High School, a new, high performance school. As BIM MEP software has advanced, so has our understanding, capabilities, and experience. Approximately 50 percent of our projects are designed with BIM. Autodesk, alt producers of the software platform Revit MEP, asserts that
M.E. GROUP / design has been at the forefront of BIM implementation since it hit the market.

True Coordination

Many architects and structural engineering firms have implemented BIM into their practice in recent years. However, the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were often not modeled in their projects. This left a large “hole” in the design, and meant that a large portion of the building had not received the same level of coordination as other disciplines. M.E. GROUP / design's  BIM experts can provide that missing component to your BIM model and help deliver a truly coordinated design.

Sustainability
BIM provides tremendous opportunities to enhance the sustainability of a project.
M.E. GROUP / design  has used BIM to develop heating and cooling loads, and we can evaluate the energy performance of our projects while in early stage design. Additionally, we have used BIM for daylighting simulation and light level calculations.  We see the evolution of the industry moving towards single, integrated design and simulation programs, and our staff will continue to stay on the cutting edge of this trend.
